OUR HISTORY

WHGC began its journey in September 2007 with two complimentary sessions that attracted 75 passionate gymnasts at Yarborough LC. After seizing an opportunity, the club relocated to a 5,000 sq ft industrial unit on Cardinal Close (see picture opposite) in March 2009.

Following numerous enhancements and impressive performances, the club established a strong reputation, securing victories in various County and Regional competitions, and began offering courses in partnership with British Gymnastics.

By 2014, with a thriving membership of 350 gymnasts and a substantial waiting list, WHGC moved to a new facility on Crofton Rd, boasting 10,000 sq ft. Over the next three years, with support from Sport England, Biffa, and Engage Mutual, the building was transformed into a premier gymnastics venue, complete with a pitted gym and all necessary WA and MA equipment. The reception and public areas were significantly upgraded, featuring a café, waiting area, and comprehensive tiered seating for competitions.

The club has developed many of its own coaches and conducts several coaching courses annually, currently welcoming over 800 gymnasts each week.
